.back to life

Yes, I'm back. A little recap for the past few months:

Hubby, Josh and I welcomed the newest addition to our family, baby Jillian Violetta Irawan. Born on May 6 (she shared birthday with my brother!), she gave me the easiest labor every mother ever dreamed of. Water broke at 2am, went to hospital and arrived at 3.30am - was already 8cm dilated (!), baby was born 1.5hr later :)

Then, the journey began. The first one month was very stressful but I managed to survive *grin*.

Now, my little princess is 7 months old and is very active. God bless you, baby girl.

*welcome to the world, little jill!

.short trip to Bandung

Finally we managed to go to Bandung before my sister went back to Singapore. The small group included me, Josh, his nanny, my sister and parents. I really enjoyed the holiday, specially because my sister and parents were so busy taking care of Josh, so I basically got nothing to do but to enjoy the holiday ;)

In front of one of so many factory outlets in Bandung

Still very sleepy but can't wait to explore Bandung

Enjoying his fresh juice. Yummy...

Having fun with Ii Cia

Strawberry picking! He really loves it.

*can't wait for another holiday

.let's go to school

Can't you believe that kids nowadays start going to school from newborn? But I decided to enroll my baby to Gymboree when he was 14m because I thought if he was too small then he couldn't even participate in any activities.

After 2-3 times going there, finally he enjoys the class and goes home with smiles. He specially loves the bubble and parachute sessions. But most of all, I am happy that here, he has the chance to learn something new - though only once a week- and can meet his friends with the same age.

.it's time to say goodbye

Last week, I said goodbye to my father-in-law. Though we didn't speak that much when he's around, I couldn't stop myself from crying on his funeral. I will always remember him as the man who didn't speak much but smiled a lot. I'm sure your smile has opened the gate of heaven, and now that you're healed, I can imagine you running and hopping through the white clouds :)

Anyway, I received these batik scraps from Amesh about a week before we got the bad news and apparently, making these flowers gave a calming effect.

So I'd like to dedicate these beautiful flowers for him.

*goodbye, papi...

.a simple celebration

Today is my baby's birthday. Really can't believe that he's ONE year old now. I guess time really flies. I still can remember the day he was born and the day we took him home from the hospital. Since that day, smile is always in my heart.

No fancy party. Just a simple birthday cake with Mickey Mouse decoration and standard voices from me, hubby, mom-in-law and Josh's nanny singing Happy Birthday :) Humble but I think Josh enjoyed it better than if he celebrated his birthday with people that he's not familiar with.

God bless you always, baby - no matter how old you are, you will always be my baby :) Mama and papa love you so much. We're wishing you another years of laughter, joy, fun, love and happiness.

*happy birthday, sayang!

.11 months

What? Only another month to go before my little prince turns one? How time really flies...

Since there's no pediatrician appointment for this month, I can't exactly tell for sure his height but pretty sure that his weight is now 11kg.

Josh yang lucu udah makin pinter berdirinya. Tiap lihat tempat tinggi, pasti mau dia panjat, ga peduli tinggi rendah, keras maupun empuk. Bergeser sepanjang satu sisi playpen.

Already a pro of crawling, he likes to crawl to forbidden places/things like mat, trash etc. Always smile while watching him crawling. Just like a little puppy *woof woof*

Pelan-pelan udah mulai dititah and I think he quite enjoys it.

And he can do these things:

Clapping hands. Lucu banget gayanya. Kadang suka terlalu heboh sendiri sampai tangannya nyasar ke muka hihi.

Pai pai - Chinese people do this when they're praying and give respect. Only 2 days for him to remember this new thing, what a clever boy. A good preparation for the upcoming Chinese New Year hehe.

Dadagh. Tangannya diputar-putar kayak miss universe lagi nari Bali. Geli banget kalau ngeliat dia lagi bye-bye gitu.

Kiss bye. Cuma bisa kasih bunyi-bunyian pakai mulut aja. Itu pun kalau dia mood. Kalau lagi ga mood, ya dibalas dengan bye-bye :D

Kipas-kipas. Nah loh, aneh banget kan. Susternya macem-macem nih ngajarinnya hihi. Tau deh ni anak kok bisa kipas-kipas. Mulai dari kertas, tutup tempat makan sampai sendok, semua dipakai buat ngipas hihi.

Ngoceh-ngoceh. Bawelnya...

Tapiiiii Josh makannya lagi bandel nih. Makan buah mulai susah, padahal biasa kalau alpukat dan jeruk dia lumayan suka, tapi ini musti dipancing-pancing dulu. Makan nasi juga mulai bandel. Lamaaaa banget. Sampai yang nyuapin jadi ngantuk hehe. Maunya main mulu tapi mulutnya ga mau dibuka.

Untungnya minum susu malah suka tuh sekarang. Makan siang jam 11.30, ntar jam 13.30 dia udah minta susu lagi. Gue lihatnya aja eneg, soalnya porsi dia makan banyak juga tuh hehe.

Oya, giginya udah 8! Empat di atas, empat di bawah. Kalau ketawa makin lucu deh. Giginya gede-gede soalnya :-P

Trus Josh juga kalau bobo udah teratur banget jadwalnya. Pagi sekitar jam 9 dia bobo 1-1.5 jam. Siang sekitar jam 2 dia bisa bobo sampai 2 jam! Hooray, time for facebook :D Malam sekitar jam 7.30 bobo lagi dan bangun jam 6 pagi *hoahmm* Sayangnya, Josh masih suka bangun tengah malam untuk minum susu nih. Tetap gue latih sih, moga-moga next year udah bisa tidur nyenyak sampai pagi ya, sayang.

*oh baby, i'm so damn proud of you

.10 months

Josh is 10m now! That little prick hihi.

A bit flashback: Finally I took him for therapy because after 9.5m he still couldn't sit by himself. So instead of waiting for it to happen naturally, which I'm afraid is going to be too late, I made the decision to go. Maybe the word 'therapy' raises questions so I prefer to call it 'sport'.

Day 1: heboh.

Then, with only 3 sessions, exactly 1 day before he's 10m, he can crawl and sit! Even now he crawl very fast.

A couple days later, he can stand on his crib! Hebatnya hehe. Setelah itu... mulai deh semua tempat langsung dipanjatin huf huf. Gempor juga jagainnya ya, but I'm happy. So damn happy hehe.

*muach, baby boy, mama loves you so much!

.9 months

Nine months. It feels so fast. As usual, we went to the doctor: the last shot for this year.

Weight: 9,6kg
Height: 76cm

The doctor was a bit worried because Josh couldn't sit on his own yet. Apparently his legs are not strong enough, so he probably need to go for a therapy if in the next 2 weeks he still couldn't sit. Well, I was a bit shocked hearing the word 'therapy', as if there's something wrong with my baby. But after she explained the therapy process, I agreed to do it. It's not that different with Gymboree, Tumble Tots etc, actually.

Josh is not having any problem on food. Lately he prefers to have his food more solid. I also try to give him a fish, but it's not salmon this time and the cutting is very small. Luckily, nothing happens.

But the most confusing thing is that he suddenly doesn't like fruit. I wonder why.

*sit, baby, sit!

.8 months solid food

On this 8th month, my boy already has his daily schedule of activity. Meaning it's easier to guess his mood.

MORNING rice ceral atau oatmeal
SNACK fruit
LUNCH cooked white/red rice with vegetable and meat/chicken/fish
AFTERNOON cooked white/red rice with vegetable and meat/chicken/fish

For the rice cereal, I tried another versions from Gasol: Banana and Red Rice. Think it's nicer than the Green Bean.

One time, I gave him Yoplait Baby yoghurt and I think he liked it. He also tasted peach (mama's favorite fruit) and he liked it. He ate one whole peach by himself.

No salmon, thanks. Like I posted before, he got sick after eating that. Not sure because he's allergic to or the portion was too muach.

*so far so good

.watta day

Fuh... yesterday might be one of the longest days in Josh's life :)

All I wanted to do was sleep. Lepas high heels, ganti piyama, bersihin make up, keramas dan bobo.

Laper berat, euy. Setelah 'mempersiapkan' Josh, kita langsung berangkat ke gereja. Pastornya langsung jadi one of Anton's favorite, karena cepat, ga banyak dinyanyiin dan ga bertele-tele hihi. Males bener ya laki gue.

Dari gereja buru-buru balik ke rumah untuk mandi dan make up buat malam. Pas bener tuh waktunya, jam 5.30 sore kelar, lalu kita langsung ke tempat pesta, tentu aja dengan membawa Josh. Moga-moga dia ga rewel deh.

Sekitar jam 7 malam pesta dimulai. Wuih, hebat juga mereka. Entrancenya: the groom nyanyi lagu Afghan di dekat panggung dan the bride melanjutkan dengan bait kedua sambil naik dari bawah. Tapi setelah dipikir-pikir kenapa bride-nya yang naik tangga ya? Kan harusnya groom aja. Lagian kesannya jadi the bride yang 'mengejar' the groom hihi. Ga penting banget ya :D Anyway, mereka lalu ketemuan di titik tengah dan dansa plus wedding kiss. Gue sih ga bakalan mau dah disuruh begitu hehe.

Setelah kata sambutan dari groom, wedding cake dan pouring champagne, akhirnya tiba lah waktu makan hehe. But my poor husband was a bit disappointed karena harusnya sebelum makan ada doa makan dulu dia yang harusnya baca doa! Gaya bener ya, padahal kalau disuruh doa malem di rumah aja susah bener...

Makanannya lumayan enak sih, apalagi karena ga perlu antri :P Ada Baskin Robbins pula. Nyum nyum.

Sayangnya, Josh udah bobo jadi ga ikutan deh. Untung sebelum pesta dimulai sempat foto keluarga inti dulu sama josh - walaupun ni anak malah ngeliatin air mancur yang ada di depan panggung hihi.

Congrats to Wen & Lia! May you live happily ever after. Jangan lupa cousin buat Josh ya hihi.

.first visit

Today Josh is going to travel... around Jakarta hehe. First stop: Ance & Ela's house at Anton. She just gave birth a beautiful baby girl. So cute. Can't believe that Josh used to be that small!

Next stop: my parents's house. After they played with Josh, all of us went to Grand Indonesia. Josh loved the mall! He's so captured with the lights and sounds inside. We also bought a formal outfit for Josh to wear on my sister-in-law's wedding. I'm so damn sure that my baby will look handsome wearing this outfit.

It's so fun going out with Josh. Should do that more often. It's a way to introduce the world to Josh and Josh to the world :)

.Pancious

My little sister is in Jakarta!

Kita pikir restaurant-nya bakal ramai, maklum deh hari Minggu siang. Jam makan pula. Eh, ternyata sepi loh! Ga pakai antri. Langsung dapat tempat duduk. Sepi pula di dalam. Kok tumben banget ya?

Setelah bolak balik baca menu *eh, menunya baru loh hihi* akhirnya gue memutuskan untuk makan pasta aja. Pancake-nya disimpan buat dessert *kalau masih cukup perutnya*. Gue order Fetuccine with Salmon. Cia order Spaghetti with Smoked Beef. Anton order American Breakfast. Untuk appetizer kita order Baby Potatoes.

Baby Potatoes-nya yah oke lah, termasuk one of my favorite menu disini sih. Entah dimasak pakai bumbu apa tapi kok rasanya enak banget yah hehe. My Fetuccine with Salmon wasn't too good. Agak blenyek *tau kan maksudnya??* Mungkin masak pastanya kematangan jadi malah terlalu empuk. Trus cream-nya juga too thick menurut gue. Jadi agak eneg.

Kalau Spaghetti with Smoked Beef-nya sih ok lah. I didn't try the American Breakfast tapi kayaknya standard lah. Cuma pancake, sosis sama telur orak arik hihi. Gitu aja kok my hubby sampai demen banget ya :D

Makan main course aja udah kenyang gini, gimana mau lanjut dessert. Ah, kemampuan makan gue bener-bener berkurang. Payah dah. Malu-maluin aja hihi.

*padahal mau banget makan pancake with maple syrup. slurp...

.lah?!

Ga enak sih tepatnya. Jadi ya seringnya gue minta Anton yang jadi juru bicara hehe. Maaf ya, babz, kamu kena ga enaknya. Abis siapa lagi yang bakal didengerin. Itu pun kadang-kadang masih dibantah dengan semangatnya.

1. Dulu waktu Josh masih newborn (segede guling bayi hihi), mertua gue bilang, "Kalau nangis jangan langsung diangkat, ntar kebiasaan." Gue sih nurut karena gue setuju. Lalu, siapa tuh yang lari tergopoh-gopoh masuk kamar kalau Josh nangis? Ya mertua gue. Biasanya dia bakal bilang, "Kenapa?" Kesannya gue apa-apain gitu. Terus dia sendiri yang langsung gendong. LAH?!

2. Entah kenapa Josh tuh demen banget air putih. Padahal maksud awalnya kan cuma buat cuci mulut kalau abis minum susu.

Jadi kalau Josh nangis biasa gue usaha dulu gendong-gendong buat diemin dia sampai dia bener-bener teriak baru gue kasih. Tapi kalau sama mertua, begitu dia mewek dikit, langsung deh air putih tersedia.

Baru deh mertua gue nurut. Tapi.... katanya, "Kalau dikit mah gapapa." LAH?!

3. Kepala Josh belum tegak! Hiks, sedih banget gue. Mustinya umur segini kan udah bisa tegak. Kemarin pas ke dokter, langsung ditegor deh gue. Eh, bukan ditegor sih, tepatnya dikasih tau, tapi gue merasa bersalah banget sebagai ibu karena ga pernah ngotot ngelatih Josh tengkurep. Lalu gue bertekad mulai besok Josh HARUS ditengkurepin min. 10 menit setiap hari.

Kalau sore biasa Josh udah ngantuk, jadi dia pasti ga mau ditengkurepin. Apa yang terjadi? Suster gue bilang Josh ga boleh ditengkurepin sama mertua gue karena k.a.s.i.a.n. LAH?!

4. Sejak jadi mama, prioritas belanja gue berubah, bukan lagi buat gue tapi buat Josh. Gue bisa hyper berat kalau liat barang-barang bayi sementara untuk barang gue sendiri cuma gue beli kalau butuh. Look at how being a mom really changed me? Hehe.

LAH?!

5. Believe it or not, sampai usia Josh yang sekarang ini, dia belum pernah dibawa keluar selain ke rumah sakit! Kasian ya anak gue. Moga-moga ga norak deh dia kalau one day gue bawa keluar hihi. Alasan mertua gue karena Josh masih belum ngerti apa-apa. Tapi menurut gue, dia musti ngeliat dunia luar walau dia masih seuprit gitu.

Oke lah kalau alasan dia takut Josh ketular orang sakit. Katanya kejauhan. Gile, kayak rumah bonyok gue di ujung dunia gitu, padahal cuma antara Kelapa Gading sama Tomang. "Ntar aja dibawa keluar kalau udah 6 bulan." LAH?!

Plus segudang keajaiban lainnya.

Ada-ada aja kan tuh ulah mertua gue. Kadang pusing ngadepinnya tapi kalau udah inget perhatian dia selama gue hamil, ya gue pasrah deh. Gue tau juga sih bahwa semua itu dia lakukan karena dia sayang, tapi kadang menurut gue too much aja. Sabar lah sabar.

*kapan-kapan bawa kabur Josh ah...

.a fat week

Last week was full with birthday lunch/dinner.

The first one was at the office, the day after my birthday. I celebrate it with my 2 colleagues who are having their birthdays on 22nd. We ordered Pempek Abing and cake from Dapur Cokelat. But then our colleagues also ordered a cake. And our ex-colleague came and brought another cake. 3 cakse in a day.

Later that night, I had dinner at Loewy with hubby. Place is nice and cozy. These are what we ordered:
1. Fresh Orange Juice
2. Escargot (only 6pcs for IDR40,000. I prefer Praline's)
3. Crab Ravioli (only 3 pcs and could hardly taste the crab)
4. Tenderloin Steak (only 4 small pcs but I have to admit, they're very tender)

Additional order (the portions were very small!)
5. Lobster Bisque (don't like the smell)
6. Half of Mille Feuille (I prefer Koi's)

Don't forget the cake. We had 2 cakes from Boboh Gombong. Another one from hubby's uncle. One ice cream cake from my mom and dad. Can you imagine that? For the whole week I was sure that I would have cake for my dessert.

But the party wasn't over yet. We had lunch on Saturday with friends. Thankfully, they didn't bring any cake.

Then we had family lunch on Sunday at Sun City, Hayam Wuruk. The lunch was great until someone brought another cake...

*pleeeasee no more cake for the time being...

.happy birthday to...

... me :)

Yup, today is my 28th birthday. Also mom-in-law's birthday. Also hubby's boss' birthday. Also hubby's boss' wife's birthday. Also a high school friend's birthday. Also a uni friend's birthday. Well, happy birthday to you all!

This is my first birthday with Josh. Though he couldn't say, "Happy Birthday, Mama!" and send a little prayer for me, but having him is the biggest gift from God. Thank you Lord.

Thank you to hubby, too. You and Josh make my life so special.

No special celebration for today. Just have a dinner with the whole family at home.

*thanks for all the wishes, guys!

.one month

Josh is one month old! In Chinese tradition, this have to be celebrated by giving a one-month-old-baby package to family and friends. We ordered the packages from Iton - a sister company of Eaton, the famous bakery.

In each package: red egg, kue ku (not sure if we have the English words for this), steamed bun, cake, pinky-mouse bread (because Josh's born in the Year of Rat), baby-boy bread, and yellow sticky rice.

While the star himself, doesn't realize that today is special :) Compared to last month, his cheeks and thighs are chubbier - just like KFC. Ha ha. Oh, and his cries are louder with higher vocal range (watch out, Mariah Carey!). He doesn't cry during bath time anymore, though still a bit confused when we put him inside his small tub.

But he doesn't like to sit still while drinking milk, so we have to walk around the room until the milk is finished. Watta baby.

*so cute and so lovely

.a brand new day

So, this brand new day started when Josh was born on Sunday, 25 January 2009. A very healthy baby boy (3.2kg and 51cm) that we named Joshua Xaverio Irawan. Joshua means “the Lord is salvation.” While Xaverio means “stern, serious.”

Ow, crap, honestly, the idea behind the name was Joshua Jackson, Josh Duhamel, Josh Hartnett, Josh Groban... Ring a bell?

This is the story.

Saturday, 24 January 2009
8.00: Stain on my undie! Straight to the doctor, we went.

11.00: Oops, I was 2cm dialated, so the doctor told us to go for CTG checking. Baby's heartbeat is good but the contractions were still weak.

Bad news: my doctor would be on leave tomorrow and the day after. He offered to induce me so I could give birth today with him. But we decided to go home and wait for the signs to come naturally.

13.30: Lunch at Chatterbox, La Piazza. I started to feel the contractions. Didn't hurt but annoying.

18.00: After a short nap, we went out for dinner at Vietopia, Cikini.

20.00: It was the most uncomfortable dinner I ever had! Exactly the moment we sat until we paid, I felt some strong contractions. I didn't enjoy the meal at all. Then we went back to the hospital.

23.00: Hospital: Baby's heartbeat was still good, contractions were getting stronger but I was still 2.5cm dialated. My ob-gyn already left for holiday *damn you* so the other doctor asked me to stay at the hospital. But I thought it'd be much more comfortable at home, so we left.

Sunday, 25 January 2009
00.00: For the very first time, I couldn’t sleep at all! The pain was excruciating. It was so intense that although I tried so many positions to sleep, I still couldn't close my eyes.

8.00: I couldn't take this pain anymore. After a quick preparation, we went to the hospital. Sorry, no shower - I could barely stand. Yeepee, 6cm dialation!

11.00: Damnit. 3 hours and still 7cm dialated?! The nurse was still trying to offer me to getting induced, but no, thank you. I was scared of any injections.

12.00: Yeah, right. I was forced to eat. I wasn't in the mood for eating *of course!*. But I knew I'd need some energy when the time comes.

13.00: Another nurse offered me to getting induced because I was still only 7cm dialated. And yes, another no from me.

14.00: Suddenly they put oxygen pipe under my nose. They said that they're worried the baby didn't get enough oxygen supply because the contractions were getting stronger but I was still 7cm dialated. Okay, I was scared then.

14.30: Without thinking any further, I said yes when, once again, they offered me to getting induced. I was so worried about my baby. Before they did that, they checked my dialation once again, and surprise, my water broke. And there I was, 10cm dialated.

15.00: The doctor came and they started to teach me how to push it. Thankfully the doctor and nurses were so nice, I was so confident. Plus, hubby was also there. Thanks for being IN there, darling!

15.29: My little prince was born! He cried instantly, so loud and powerful. I feel so releived and soooo in love. It was really a miracle. Thank you, God. The pain was so painless then. This was truly a blessing.

*hey, i'm a mom!!!

.sad news

From my auntie who's expecting her first daughter. She's having a stillbirth. We're all very shocked with news, specially because the pregnancy didn't have any problem at all. But then, everything happens for a reason. I'm sure this one.

Please give strength to the parents, God. Goodbye little baby. Don't be sad, auntie, I'm sure your little girl has become an angel.

This news affects me a bit. I'm scared that it will happen to me and my little one *knock on wood*. I promise to myself that I will be very careful.

*hope everything will be okay for us, baby!

.welcome home

Yeepee. Hubby is back from his trip to Japan. No more lonely nights and empty bed. He also brought lots of Doraemon stuffs.

1. A rounded Doraemon pillow. Not sure for what but could be for massage/spa where you can place your face on the hole.
2. A pen with Doraemon face on top. Press it then the legs will come out. Hihi.
3. Doraemon coaster with six different patterns.
4. Doraemon handphone chain.
5. Doraemon coin bank.
6. Lots of snacks.
7. My favorite 'little burger cookies', though actually the price is not much cheaper from Food Hall. Hehe

*but most importantly, hubby's back

.mom-to-be

We're going to have a cute little addition into our family!

So for the next 7.5 months (because this bump is already 1.5 months), my schedule will be full with doctor appointments and eating. The doctor confirms that we're going to be mom and dad early next year.

The first trimester was exhausting and torturing. I'm having this all-day-long sickness. I surely cannot eat for two. I sleep most of the time. I fell so tired easily. I really cannot eat vegetable. I hate the smell of fish - I cannot even think about it.

Thankfully, it's getting better on the second trimester and I eat like a pig. These are what I bring when I go to the office.

1. Two breads (one for breakfast, one for snack).
2. A bottle of warm soybean.
3. Two boiled eggs.
4. Lunch.
5. Cut fruit plus banana.
6. Crackers and other snacks.

Crazy huh?!

I can feel the baby's movements starting from the 4th month. I feels kinda funny but soothing, knowing that it's doing just fine in there.

*thank you, God!
